Our efforts in the agriculture sector in Rajasthan are focused on promoting the adoption of solar-based irrigation pumps. We developed an Excel-based Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) Tool for evaluating individual solarization of grid-connected irrigation pumps under Component C. This tool aims to provide valuable insights to farmers, DISCOMs, and the state government regarding the costs and benefits associated with implementation of solarization of irrigations pumps
This tool also provides technical assistance to encourage solar adoption by farmers, foster collaborations with government agencies, agricultural organizations, technology providers and enable clean energy transition in the agriculture sector.
With increasing RE penetration levels and energy storage obligation targets set by the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC), energy storage will be an essential solution for Rajasthan to address concerns around utilization of surplus power during the daytime.
In Rajasthan, our research was focused on estimating the potential of battery energy storage system for the 2030 horizon. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are developing a Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) tool in partnership with Customized Energy Solutions that evaluates viability of different Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for various value streams such as T&D deferral, peak shaving, time shifting, demand response, and energy arbitrage. Further, we are analyzing the feasibility of deploying BESS solution at transmission and distribution level at select sites.
Planning of storage is vital for providing flexibility support given high RE integration. Our goal is to strengthen the technical capacity and provide policy and regulatory support for integrating energy storage solutions for clean energy transition in the state.
Our focus is on supporting the penetration of Rooftop Solar Systems in the state by identifying challenges and opportunities for residential and C&I consumers. We have conducted comprehensive surveys to gather valuable insights on RTS adoption among residential, institutional, C&I consumers. We have also spearheaded the Green Power Market Development Group (GPMDG) initiative, which has played a pivotal role in supporting the transition of the Indian corporate sector towards green power adoption.
Through collaboration with multiple stakeholders including industry associations working in the state, welfare groups, consumer associations, government agencies, consumers and academic institutions, we facilitate capacity building programs, and empower residential & C&I sector to embrace responsible clean energy practices so that there is a link between sustainability and profitability thereby contributing to a greener future.
Electric vehicle adoption is a crucial solution for reducing emissions and tackling pollution, However, one of the major challenges in growth of EVs is the availability of adequate charging stations. Apart from the incentives and subsidies offered by Government of India (GoI), there is a need for enabling ecosystem of charging infrastructure and manufacturing facilities.
In Rajasthan, we undertook an initiative to analyze the impact of electric vehicles (EVs) on distribution transformers (DTs) using ELEVATE tool (Electrical load due to EVs and tariff-based elasticity). By conducting this analysis, we gained valuable insights into the dynamics of future electric load. This tool aims to allow distribution utilities to make informed decisions and effectively plan for the upgrading and expansion of distribution infrastructure, thereby enabling sustainable energy practices in urban transport.
